Chazey Partners and Shared Services Leadership Coalition Hosted a Shared Services Breakfast Forum Dedicated to U.S. Federal Agencies

Chazey Partners, a practitioners-led global management advisory business and Shared Services Leadership Coalition, a non-for-profit organization, have successfully hosted a Federal Shared Services breakfast forum on Feb 24th 2017 in Washington D.C.

The event was dedicated to Shared Services practitioners from Federal agencies to discuss challenges and key success factors for implementing Shared Services in the public sector.  Phil Searle, CEO and Founder of Chazey Partners and Monica Ward, Director of Payroll & Benefits from Service New Brunswick (an internal multi-functional Shared Services organization for the Government of New Brunswick in Canada) have co-presented the case study of Shared Services strategy implementation and evolution in the Government of New Brunswick.  Following the case study, the audience were led to an interactive panel discussion facilitated by Robert Towle, Chazey Partners’ Managing Director of North America (East).  The panel comprised of distinguished Shared Services leaders in the U.S. Federal Government, including Beth Angerman (Executive Director, Unified Shared Service Management, GSA); Christopher J. Staton (Director of Financial Shared Services, OCFO, USDA), and David A. Vargas (Director, Human Resources Line of Business, OPM).

“The government has dabbled in Shared Services for several decades, and it’s encouraging that the government’s commitment and the level of interest in the industry and good government communities have been growing in recent years.  Driving change across the Federal enterprise is hard work, but it’s not rocket science.  We hope that programs like this breakfast forum hosted by Chazey Partners can help shine a light on the way forward and build confidence that the Federal Government is heading in the right direction,” commented by John Marshall, Founder and CEO of Shared Services Leadership Coalition.

“It is very encouraging to see so many attendees at this event. Shared Services is the new normal in the private sector and is growing in significance in the public sector.  Through years of engagements in the private sector and with government agencies at all levels, we have heard every objection and every excuse and have the knowledge, experience, and expertise to help advance this model and approach within the Federal Government”, commented by Phil Searle, “we are working hard to drive these initiatives in Washington by supporting and advising multiple Shared Services advocacy groups, including the Shared Services Leadership Coalition and the Partnership for Public Service’s Shared Services Roundtable.”

Phil Searle of Chazey Partners sharing his perspectives on Trump’s Protectionism and offshore shared services?

Phil Searle, CEO and Founder of Chazey Partners, a practitioners-led global management advisory business specializing in Shared Services & Outsourcing and Business Transformation, was interviewed by Nearshore Americas, an online media focusing on outsourcing and shared services, about his perspectives on whether Trump’s protectionism affect the trend to offshore shared services.

Under the new administration of President-elect Donald Trump, it would seem likely that there will be an impact on the trend and economic rationale for moving jobs outside of the United States, either to an internal captive shared services center or to a third-party outsourcer.  But is that as likely an impact when considering the provision of business support services (such as Finance, HR, IT, Procurement and Customer Support) as compared to Manufacturing?  And indeed, how significant might that impact be?

Recently Phil Searle, CEO & Founder of Chazey Partners was interviewed by Nearshore Americas, an online media, about his thoughts on the potential impact on offshoring, and specifically nearshoring, of the upcoming change in administration in the United States.  “Trump is a businessman, and, at the end of the day, if a business decides for good economic reasons that it needs to lower its cost base by moving the provision of certain support services nearshore, then I think that is still going to happen…”, Phil commented in his interview.

Phil also mentioned in the interview that the “threat” comes down to potentially charging a 35% tariff to U.S. companies on parts and goods that are manufactured overseas and then brought back into the U.S. Therefore, the focus of comments and observations has therefore related more to manufacturing than services.

Chazey Partners Shares More Insights into Business Continuity Planning (BCP) for Shared Services Organizations

Chazey Partners, a practitioners-led global management consultancy firm specializing in business transformation, Shared Services and outsourcing, and technology enablement, shares more insight about Business Continuity Planning importance and steps to an effective Business Continuity Planning.

Business Continuity Planning (BCP) is the process of planning to ensure that your operations can return to “business as usual” as quickly and painlessly as possibly in the event of a major disruption. BCP should be a consideration at all levels of the organization from strategic planning all the way down to your daily procedures. Due to the nature of Shared Services, Shared Services Organizations demand a higher level of BCP. “At Chazey Partners, we believe successful recovery from a crisis event depends on your people – not on your organization’s size, infrastructure, equipment, or technologies”, says Chas Moore, Managing Director of Canada.

Chazey Partners was engaged by University of California UCPath Center to develop a comprehensive Business Continuity Planning. Chazey Partners has delivered the plan with its own best spoke BCP approach illustrated as shown in the Figure below: Development, Approval and Implementation.
