How to Determine If & When Your RPA Initiatives Might Be Ready for A CoE

RPA for Shared Services

Process automation has been a critical part of the conversation for shared services leaders for years as organizations continue to strive for performance excellence and demand high value creation from their shared services centers.

With new technologies emerging, like Robotic Process Automation (RPA), automation is undergoing a paradigm shift in terms of its usage and impact on the shared services industry. So, what does it all mean? How should an RPA solution be embraced to support the change and how the shared services operation model be re-developed to empower this automation solution to its full potential?

We recently led a workshop at the 22nd North America Shard Services & Outsourcing Summit in Orlando, exploring capabilities of RPA in a wider range of industries and providing details on how to determine If & When an Intelligent Automation (IA) initiatives might be ready for a Center of Excellence (CoE).  At this two-hour workshop, we discussed the issues on CoE including assessing IA program’s envisioned short and long-term objectives, evaluating IA program’s scope, human capital and IT infrastructure capabilities, and regulations that organizations must keep top of mind.

Different types of RPA CoE models

As with any change, implementing RPA still needs proper planning, engagement with key stakeholders,  clear management of change and human resources, all supported by new operating models and frameworks in order to function optimally.  Determining a CoE model enables your Intelligent Automation project to operate at a maximum level.
