Business Buy-In Is Not a Nice-to-Have. It’s the Whole Game.

Ask most people who drives AI transformation in an organization and they will say the technology team. That assumption is one of the main reasons so many implementations fail.

Technology teams are skilled and well-intentioned, but they are not positioned to lead transformation. Business users, meanwhile, have learned not to trust technology. They have sat through too many impressive demos that bore no resemblance to what actually got deployed. Their default position is skepticism and they have earned it.

Start with the Business and Never Let Go of That Thread

This means going to your business users before any technology decisions are made. Understanding, in their terms, what makes their work hard. Where are the bottlenecks? What takes too long? What requires three people when it should require one? What keeps getting escalated because the information needed is sitting in five different systems?

Then, and only then, do you show them what is possible — not through a generic demo with dummy data, but through a grounded, honest conversation about what Agentic AI can realistically do for the specific problems they have described.

When business users see their own pain points reflected in the solution, something shifts. They stop being skeptics and start being advocates. That change in posture is what unlocks everything else.

The Human Dimension

Transformation only sticks when people understand how their working lives will change for the better. Not in abstract terms, but concretely: the routine task that used to take two hours will be handled automatically, the exception that used to sit in a queue for three days will be flagged and routed in minutes, the report that required pulling data from four systems will generate itself.

When people can see and feel that their work is becoming less frustrating and more meaningful, they become your most powerful implementation partners.
