Blog – My First Six Months as a Business Analyst with Chazey Partners

Six months ago, Chazey Partners welcomed Melissa Acosta to join the team in Colombia as a Business Process Analyst.  With a strong academic background in Process engineering, Supply Chain and previous work experience under her belt, Melissa Acosta was a strong contender for the role of Business Process Analyst at Chazey Partners.

She joined the team during the pandemic lockdown. We sat with Melissa to learn a little more about her and see how her first six months have been.

Q: How did you start working at Chazey Partners?

When I was first introduced to Chazey Partners, I was drawn to the core values of the company, the diversity of the team, and particularly the collective amount of experience that the Chazey consultants have.  I was excited and ready to take on a new role that offers challenges, interfacing with different clients and learning new skills.

After an extensive round of interviews with various members of the team at Chazey Partners and with my current boss Alejandro Macias, I learned a lot about the company and was delighted to receive an offer from Chazey’s Principal of Latin America, Esteban Carril.

Q: How has your experience been so far?

I joined the company right in the mid of global pandemic, so I haven’t met any team members yet. Though I missed the excitement of meeting with the team members, I was extended with the warmest welcome and given thorough orientations on my role, all by looking into my computer screen in my newly set-up home office.

Since then, I have been on various projects with a focus on process improvement and Shared Services.  One of the best parts of working for Chazey Partners is that you can organize your own time.  This really helps me to settle in and continue to improve while everything happens remotely.  All team members, especially the leadership team, are very open-minded.  I have to say this is such a beautiful culture.  As a newcomer, I am encouraged to speak up and try things differently and innovatively.  The amount of learning I have by working with different clients and from our senior project leaders and partners is incredible.  I really appreciate the continuous focus on my personal development.

Q: What does a ‘Day in the life of a Consultant’ look like for you?

I don’t know if I can call myself a consultant yet. All consultants at Chazey are very experienced and they were all practitioners themselves prior to Chazey, holding positions such as CFOs, Director for Shared Services, and so on. I don’t really have a typical day.  Every day is different! Our projects are highly client-focused.  We all work hard to deliver high-quality outputs that are aligned with our clients’ requirements.

Having said that, I have managed to build up a pattern for working from home. I usually get up at 6am, walk my dog and then start my work at 8am.  I am frequently involved in project meetings with clients, presenting key concepts and project timelines, and then focus on project deliverables for the remaining time.

The first six months at Chazey Partners have been a great experience for me.  I have enjoyed developing my shared services, master data management, project management, and stakeholder management skills. I look forward to many more months to come and the challenges and development opportunities ahead.
