Interior & Northern Health

Interior Health and Northern Health work together on back office and support functions under the structure of the BC Rural Collaborative. These two health authorities in Canada’s westernmost province have a combined budget of $2.4 billion with 25,000 employees and have shared a common instance of Meditech business systems since August 2011.

In February 2012, these two health authorities engaged Chazey Partners to complete a business case on the feasibility of integrating their separate Payroll and Human Resources Employee Services (compensation, benefits, internal recruitment) departments. The report was delivered in July 2012.

The leading practices included in the future operating model included:

• Web-based, self-serve functionality for employees and managers
• End-to-end automation and integration between payroll and human resources departments
• Fully compliant functions for complex, highly-regulated and unionized healthcare environment
• Lowest-cost, highest-quality payroll/human resources in British Columbia healthcare industry
