“We first engaged Chazey Partners on our Asia Hub initiative towards the end of 2013 when they were asked to perform a Location Analysis Study for the purpose of setting up a new Shared Services Center in the Asia Pacific Region. This helped us to reach our decision to locate our new Human Resources (HR) Shared Service Centre (SSC) in Hong Kong. Then, in September 2014, we re-engaged Chazey Partners for the Business Case and Design of a new Human Resources Operations Hub to be located in Hong Kong. Then we re-engaged Chazey Partners in early 2015 to assist us with the actual Build, Deployment and Stabilization of this new Human Resources Operations Hub, to be called “HR Answer Asia”.
In effect, we engaged and partnered with Chazey right through conception, business case, design, build, deploy and stabilize for our new Asia Hub. The first phase transitioned support from North America and in-market activities for the Asia regional affiliates (Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the People’s Republic of China (PRC), Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand). HR Answer Asia went live for this initial phase on 24 August 2015 and was stabilized by 30 November 2015. The second phase transitioned support for Japan. This second phase went live 30 November 2015 and was stabilized in mid-February 2016.
We are delighted with our partnership with Chazey on this. The Chazey team worked with myself, the HR and operational teams in both the US and Asia, and with senior management. Their hands on approach, highly relevant and in depth experience, collaborative style and on site resources in both the US and Asia was a major contributor to our success. In 2011, Gerdau’s management made the decision to follow up on expanding its Shared Services model through the creation of a new Shared Service Center located in Mexico to provide services to 7 countries in Latin America and Spain. Given the broad scope of the project and the relative lack of first hand Shared Services experience, we decided to engage an outside partner. Chazey Partners was recruited and joined the LatAm SSO project team in October 2011 to offer support and guidance through the ensuing 18 months’ implementation. During this period, Chazey’s consultants worked closely with the project management team to develop a business case, present the benefits to country leaders, manage change communications, and guide the transition to fully operating Shared Services. Chazey’s practitioners were able to leverage their extensive experience, based on multiple global implementations, including Latin America. In 2010 Coca- Cola Hellenic began a journey to fundamentally transform our Finance and HR operations through the use of Shared Services. Coca-Cola Hellenic is nearing the end of a four-year transition to multifunctional Shared Services Organization, a project supported across two distinct phases by SAP and Chazey Partners. Based in Sofia, Bulgaria, the new, 350-strong Business Services Organization is providing integrated Finance and HR services to 21 countries across Western, Central and Eastern Europe. The Finance elements include AP, AR, GL, Fixed Assets, Period End Closing, Treasury and T&E (which was outsourced with the SSO roll-out). The HR elements include Organizational Management, Personnel Administration, Recruitment, Performance Management, Absence Management, Learning & Development, and a Centre of Expertise.
This transformation has benefitted CCH through standardized services delivered to diverse business units in a consistent, user-friendly manner; a “Governance and Service Management Framework”; exceptional productivity efficiencies; a considerable reduction in annual operating cost; selective BPO; and continuous improvement. The rapid deployment schedule called for tight program management and very effective change management support. The SAP Shared Services Framework (SSF) provided a platform for online communication between the countries and the BSO and end-to-end process automation, while Chazey Partners provided the Shared Services expertise for the strategy, design, change management and implementation.
Chazey’s team was invaluable in supporting this project, and we at SAP would highly recommend partnering with them for large-scale transformations of this kind. We look forward to future opportunities to work together again.

Chazey Partners was engaged in February 2012 to develop a business case for the integration of the payroll and human resources employee services (compensation, benefits, internal recruitment) departments of Interior Health and Northern Health. For the past eight months, Interior Health and Northern Health have shared the same instance of Meditech business systems. Chazey Partners acted as an independent authority to advise the project’s executive steering committee on how to leverage this common system to improve services and reduce costs.
The governance of this project was complex, in that Chazey Partners’ team had to support two separate legal entities with different requirements and culture. The availability of internal project resources was a challenge at times. The steering committee also directed Chazey Partners to expand their scope of work to a more detailed analysis than is typical at the business case stage in order to satisfy all the needs of stakeholders.
Through all these issues Chazey Partners was professional, accommodating, and committed. The result was a quality report that will guide decision making for Interior Health and Northern Health as we look to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our back-office functions.
